Our 11 month old son making friends at Goatacre Animal Sanctuary, Wiltshire. Children do not see boundaries where friendship is concerned, and all living things are, in their eyes, equal.
Goatacre Animal Sanctuary is run by a very dedicated team of two (David and Emma). This is a not for profit sanctuary, with every penny raised going straight back into feeding the animals, providing them with fresh, warm beds, veterinary care and anything else that they may need. On top of this, David and Emma both work, almost full time jobs, to enable them to continue running the sanctuary and caring for as many animals as they can.
David and Emma rescue and rehabilitate a wide range of animals from goats, to chickens, to pigs, to tortoises, to guinea pigs, and more. Many of the residents have been saved from slaughter, unpleasant living conditions, have been unwanted pets, or sometimes families have had to make the difficult decision to re home their animals due to a change in circumstance. Whatever the reason, David and Emma endeavour to help as much as they can. This often entails working around the clock to save lives, and leads to much heartache as well as joy.
The sanctuary is a wonderfully peaceful place to visit. It is also an amazing environment to share with children as an introduction to kindness and compassion towards all living things.
