This photo has a thousand words. During WWII the Japanese invaded Attu and captured it's indigenous people (Attuans) and kept them in Japan for 3 years. The U.S. finally won with a large loss of life. "It is with very heavy hearts that we report that Lt. Col. Bob Brocklehurst, retired, the first American fighter pilot to land on Attu after it was secured from the Japanese, passed away this March 6, 2019." He is holding Anecia Leona Honiahaka Schmitz, a 3rd generation survivor, from Attu. Lt. Col. Bob Brocklehurst is part of the reason our baby girl, who is 18 months now, is alive today.
