The Eastern Slavs from the earliest times known to the rites of the "young salt". Newlyweds who had a wedding this year, during the Maslenitsa festivities buried in the snow. In this ceremony the snow symbolized the salt, and the ceremony was performed with the aim of protecting the newlyweds.
