August 23, 2018 : 10 years old totally blind Prattashya Mondal being fed by her Mother. Bounded by blindness she is unable to perform her daily chores. India has the largest number of visually impaired mass from among the world. Sundarbans is affected the most for its poor living standards, lower income and inadequate treatments. Ignorance on the part of survivors and their family has also sparked visual impairment to almost 1.88%, making it 40% higher than the national average. Females are largely affected than males. Even small children are also affected. Some familiar reasons for blindness here are cataract, corneal disorders and refractive errors. Also insufficient optometrists have raised the number of blinds in the nation, leave aside that remote island. It has just one optometrist per 100000 people. Insufficient eye donations are another major cause why widespread sight correction is not available here.
