on June 7, 2019, the Rockland County Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America hosted a Wear Orange event in Nyack Memorial Park. Wear Orange is a weekend dedicated to honoring all victims of gun violence. My nonprofit group (Rockland's Moms Demand Action) arranged for the former Tappan Zee Bridge connecting Rockland and Westchester County (now the Governor Mario Cuomo Bridge) to be lit in orange the entire weekend at sunset to honor all victims of gun violence.
This photo captures the kindness and dedication of all the people who came out to support our event, pictured before the sun set and as the bridge was becoming to turn orange. It was a beautiful night and the attendees ranged from survivors of gun violence to supporters of our cause to the dedicated volunteers working to make our laws reflect the common sense gun legislation we all want to prevent further victims of tragedy.
It was our best turnout at any event we've ever hosted with about 100 people -- from babies six months old to senior citizens. It was a terrific family event and I can't think of a better way to recognize the kindness of all the individuals pictured.
Thank you for your consideration!
