The parade of athletes is a big part of Special Olympics opening ceremonies. Families and friends sit in the stands and cheer, and Law Enforcement Officers line up to form a tunnel and greet every single athlete.
Some athletes are not able to walk and need help with their wheel chair, but they all receive that fist bump or high five.
The purity of emotions and mutual respect for each other is very touching, and everybody genuinely cares for each other.
As one of the official photographers for Special Olympics New Jersey I have close access at events, and my penchant for wide angle lenses allows me to get very close to the emotions.
